Andrea Hewes

Andrea Hewes has drawn inspiration from her travels in Central America, Africa and Australia.

Since the beginning of 2006, I have been able to pursue my career as a fine artist, full time, doing only the occasional graphic design on a freelance basis.

My work is inspired by studies from nature from both here in the UK, as well as from Western Australia, where I have lived for many years, and from Belize Central America where I also lived for some years, and varying lengths of time spent in Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Kenya, and more recently Mali.

My art is evolving from a figurative approach to one that is beyond realism; a way of looking at nature and then responding to it, with an exploration of colour, texture and tone.

My sense of inspiration is also fed by the work Paul Cezanne and Paul Klee and further influenced by art from St Ives.
